We can’t all go to the other side of the world to have a true Kiwi Christmas every year, so why not try to experience some of the allure of the islands while staying right here in New York? Step back in time to the 1950s with us as we dive right into true Tiki culture out on Staten Island, at one of the last remaining untouched tiki bars in the country. At Jade Island, the menu and the decor haven’t changed in decades — including dried puffer fish hanging from thatched cabana roofs, flaming pupu platters, and giant rum-based cocktails served in fake coconut shells or real hollowed-out pineapples.
While we all know that nothing about this place is authentic to the “South Seas,” it IS an experience unlike any other.
More details will be forthcoming shortly, but there will definitely be Kiwi goodies and giveaways for all-comers, and we will be doing pick-up and drop-off at the Staten Island Ferry terminal for those who let us know they’re coming.
