ANZAC Day is when we pause to remember those New Zealanders and Australians killed in war, to honour returned servicemen and women and to pay tribute to those personnel who are currently serving their countries. Although its timing recalls the landing at Gallipoli of the Australian and New Zealand Army Corps on 25 April 1915, the Commemorative Service is for all those who have given their lives during conflict.
In 2013 we will be holding two ANZAC Day Commemorative Services in New York.
The first will be a Dawn Service, held at 6 AM on Thursday 25th April at Vietnam Veterans Plaza, 55 Water Street, between Broad Street and Old Slip, New York, 10004. Please note new location. The Service will be held rain or shine – we encourage you to come prepared with warm clothing & an umbrella in case of inclement weather.
The traditional Sunday Service is a ticketed event and will be held on Sunday 28th April commencing at 10:30 AM at the ANZAC Memorial Garden, RockefellerCenter, 620 Fifth Avenue, New York, 10022. The entrance to the Garden is on the south side of West 50th Street. In the event of inclement weather, the service will be held in the room adjacent to the Garden. Immediately following the Sunday Service, guests are invited to join us for morning tea at RockefellerCenter.
Entry to the Sunday Rockefeller Garden Service:
Due to limited space at the Garden, numbers are restricted for the Sunday Service. For 2013, tickets will be provided in advance. Tickets to the Sunday Service will be allocated by lottery and are subject to availability. Each family will be allocated a maximum of two tickets. The Australian and New Zealand Consuls General apologise in advance to those who are disappointed. We strongly encourage you to attend the Dawn Service on Thursday 25th April as this is an open event.
To be allocated tickets to the Sunday Service:
New Zealand citizens please email firstname.lastname@example.org
Australian citizens please email Public-Affairs-NYCG@dfat.gov.au.
We will contact you in the week commencing Monday 22nd April if you have been allocated space at the service.
Please carry photo identification (for example, ID card, driver’s license or passport). Bags may be searched before being granted access to the Garden. Due to the nature of the Service, respectful attire is requested.
Both Services will be co-hosted by New Zealand and Australian Consuls General.
We look forward to seeing you.
